Many Dodge, Chrysler and Jeep vehicles were originally using a 'trap door' type of key fob called a fobik. The manufacturer stopped making these keys with the 'trap door' in the back for easy battery removal, because they frequently went bad very quickly. Sometimes the remote functions stopped working, other times the remote functions work, but the ignition would not allow the key to start the vehicle. Replacement is quick and easy with these types of vehicles. One way to check and see if the key is not reading, is to look at the instrument cluster. Look for a red dot flashing and if it is, the key may need to be replaced.
